Re: Championship Format in Prem

I am surprised and disappointed by the tone of the responses in this thread. I have decided to leave chatter and won't be reading it again.

Re: Championship Format in Prem

Dee: "You mean those VOLUNTEERS who give up their own TIME to run the sport and spend equal amount of THEIR OWN money on accommodation etc. so that YOU can compete? I don't know whey they bother." I was not meaning to be rude about volunteers, our family volunteers a very significant amount time to ...

Re: Championship Format in Prem

The start list of the British Open meant that many K1W could have traveled to Lee Valley on Saturday morning and avoided the expense of a Friday night hotel. However the late publication of the proposed start list and structure for the day meant that by the time that information was available, commi...

Re: Coping with Numbers in Div 1

Dees numbers from the online system show that there really isn't a problem at all, although there is a perceived one. Llandysul is full due to the non-host division paddlers, so this race shouldn't be considered as the basis of changing the structural issues of the races, points system, promotion an...

Re: Online Entries - The Future - Have your Say?

Hi Dee,

Is there anything in the rules to say that a Paddle Up entry can't be converted to a host division entry after promotion?

Re: Online Entries - The Future - Have your Say?

Hi Dee, Apologies if this is already covered above. Where I think the system could do with a tweak is how it manages paddle up applications, if the paddler is promoted to the host division before the deadline. It would make sense if an early paddle up application on the waiting list could be convert...

Re: 6.11 Portable Points

Trying to explain the rule changes to children in division 2: Last year if you did a paddle up in division 1 you had to beat 40% of the paddlers in the division above in order to gain any points, if you did you got the equivalent of a win. Next year, if you beat 40% of the paddlers in division 1, th...

Boat Weight Rules

Does the weight change apply to all divisions and will there be weighing of boats at the lower division races? If small children with light boats are going to have weights fitted, they will want to be sure that everyone is doing the same in order to make things fair. Alternatively will the weight re...

Re: 6.11 Portable Points

Looking at the stated aims of PP, a few thoughts: As paddle up is already permitted, as are judging opportunities, how does PP provide "Additional races and access to bigger water for paddlers" that isn't already available in the current system? The PP proposal does not seem to address this aim by p...

Re: 6.7 Promotion from inquorate classes in Div 4

Yes, lets take the time and effort to ensure that we keep paddlers in division 4 for longer. Where we've got two really fast paddlers in a div 4 race with 5 entries, lets make sure that we keep that second placed paddler in division 4, we don't want to welcome people into the ranking system and enga...

Re: Promotion from Div 4 to 3 for inquorate classes

I don't think this is a good idea at all. We need a flow of paddlers coming into the sport. The numbers are not huge for Div 3 this year, so I'm not sure why we should be concerned that occasionally a weak paddler gets into division 3 (A very strong K1M div 4 paddler can equally prevent promotion of...

Are we going to be weighing boats at Div 1, 2 and 3? There are a lot of very light boats out there.

I agree about independent course designers. The same was said by many people of the Tully course design.

We have the same issue at the McConkey and Trywryn. It's not a great format for those on a budget.

Re: British Open Race Progression

I'm very stupid, so I still don't understand fully. In K1M, if we are talking about the Prem being in championship format, is that 30 Prem men through from heat one and 10 from heat two? In which case, what happens in relation to the British Open entrants who are not in Prem? Or alternatively, does ...
