Re: Can we improve any part of Canoe Slalom?
Would love to have races at Lee Valley and Cardiff as regular features WITH Tully on the Slalom calendar. I would also want some prearranged training slots on the Friday before the race (which the Cardiff race did arrange) for those of us who don't get to use these sites regularly. Neil, if you are ...

Re: rule clarification
Hi Neil
The main reason that I can see not to fold the card is because it makes it very difficult to put the card in the display boards we use and it falls on the ground ..... very frustrating ..... especially if it is rainy and the card then gets muddy.

I am in favour of more double events so that you get 2 days racing for the price and time of 1 weekend. The main cost for events is the travel and accommodation. Grandtully events are double because we know that people are more likely to travel to a double race. From a Scottish paddler perspective,...

I agree that the current late entry fee for Division 1 and Premier only does not deter people from entering late. The late fee is only an extra 15% of the entry fee. The encouragement to enter on time comes from those who know that this makes organising a start list and event much harder. The deter...

Thanks to Nicky and Tees Tiger and the BCU slalom committee for putting on a great event. What a lovely site with good facilities close by. No mean task running a PanCeltic alongside a premier. The safety people did an excellent job and the site officials were friendly and courteous. I hear the onl...

I agree with Seedy Paddler. It would improve processing if we could move to using e-mail instead of post. Sending the results and any other papework by e-mail to ranking and bib officers would speed things up and could lead to us being able to potentially dispense with using post. We could have a s...

The position at the end of the season is not applicable in this instance as this event was held in the first half of the season. Paddlers tend to improve significantly during the season i.e. from April onwards as they race and get more experience. A Division 1/2 course may well be a good compromise...

The British Junior Champs used to include all age groups but it was recognised a few years ago that the top J18, J17 didn't attend so the Junior Champs was changed to J16,J14 Champs. The problem is that you want to attract the best paddlers but you also want to attract other juniors so that it is a...

I think Division 1s should have a timing team. Racing in Division 1 is very competitive and the paddlers train hard. A timing team times the event to 100th of a second but also ensure that the event runs to time. To me, the entry fee at Division 1 reflects that the event will be run to a higher sta...

The sport needs to evolve to cater for the competitors. However, as others have pointed out, this is fraught as only some changes work successfully. I quite like the idea proposed by John Sturgess but would need to see far more detail to understand how this woould work in reality and whether it is ...

The sport has a variety of different paddlers whose needs should and can be catered for e.g. 1. Those who start slalom as juniors, are hooked, have committed parents and wish to proceed through the rankings – they will attend as many events as possible 2. Full time athletes training in Canoe Slalom...

After the Division 1/2 on the Saturday, the club are running a Ceilidh in the Tully Village Hall from 7.00 - 10.30. Tickets are £3 for juniors and £4 for adults and these can be purchased from Control. For those of you who don't know what a Ceilidh is, ceilidh dances are done to Scottish music and ...

One of the problems is that you cannot adjust the gates during a category and that as paddlers sometimes go out of order, you end up leaving the gates 'as is'. The starter in control and on the river bank needs to be conscious that one class is about to finish and get resources ready to adjust gate...
