Open events are fine for people who have the time, money and no commitments to be able to paddle every weekend. But the point is people have got other things in there lives other than slalom and when those people go to events they want to be able to use the water available.

Dave I think you are missing the point the issue hear is freedom for paddlers to choose how they prepare. Some paddlers will benefit from extra practice, a practice run does not have to be done at full pace I tend to use them to work out the crunch moves and not race the whole course. Another point...

Non Paddler Thank you for your contribution to a topic that is very close to my heart (although some people may say I don't have one). You have managed to express the facts clearly and objectively and anyone who reads what you have put forward will see this. I hope you are at the ACM to express you...

Dave I have spoke to a number of members of the slalom commitee and I know the ones I have spoken to support the motion and I can tell you also do. I have no beefs with the people involved but this area is called rants and raves that is just what I am doing. I apologies if anyone as taken this pers...

I have just had a quick glance at the first page of Slalom Development Plan 2006 down near the bottom it says. "SLALOM IS A SPORT THAT CAN CATER FOR BOTH THE ELITE AND THE RECREATIONAL SLALOMIST" well here is youre chance to cater for the recreational slalomist and just let us paddle. I think from ...

Dave I go to slaloms to do a sport I enjoy doing you maybe able to spend every weekend and 3 evenings a week training or competing but not everyone has the time facilities or the finances to do this. Why stop people using the facilities if the water time is available. These changes are only to bene...

Once again our illustrious leaders are trying to railroad a proposal through for the good of the few. If you have bothered to wade through the agenda for the ACM hidden at the back is proposal 6.4 Reinstate 1 run practice to Division 1. Whoever as cobbled this proposal together as not look up the f...

Pingu I am not knocking the slalom committee in general I think they do a very good job. But the focus of slalom as been for many years and still is on the development of potential future champions this is due to the way the sport is funded. The problem is the majority of people who race will never...

After 23 years of slalom last weekend could have been my last race if some of the rule changes go through. The question you may ask is why? I believe the powers that be may have missed the point what this sport is about because I know some of the paddlers have. I will spell it out for you who fall ...

As I expressed before my opinion is the rule is outdated and no paddler will have gained advantage from having a boat a few hundred grams under weight. The only reason for boat weight introduction was safety to ensure manufactures made boats that would not fold around your legs on the first rapid. ...

I have a number of points to raise and agree with a lot of Quakers comments. Firstly in order for the scales to operate correctly they need to be levelled. (move your bathroom scales around your bathroom floor and see what difference you get). Secondly at what temperature was the calibration of the...
