Re: Demos - Paddle up + Portable points impacting numbers?
There is a need for demos of a reasonable quality not just choosing the best of the available judges. At one time many of the coaches on the bank would have completed demo runs. Many are, after all, former International paddlers, some even World Champions!

Re: Demos - Paddle up + Portable points impacting numbers?
I completed an analysis of the Lee Valley Prem race in April and submitted the following proposal to the Slalom Committee for consideration. The idea is to allocate gate judges by club according to the number of entries that the club has at the event. Hope it makes some sense - difficult to post wha...

Re: Restructuring the divisions
And Tryweryn - fantastic river that has previously hosted events across all divisions with 5 separate race sections - Stilling Basin, Graveyard, International Site, Chapel Falls and Bala Mill.

Re: Rationing Entries
I totally agree that capacity has to be increased and do encourage doubling up in two categories if there is sufficient space. However, the reality for the forthcoming Div 1 at HPP is that approx. 120 Div 1 paddlers have one entry, approx. 20 paddlers have two entries and an unknown number who would...

Rationing Entries
Has any consideration been given to rationing entries at an event? There is so much dissatisfaction from Division 1 paddlers that cannot gain entries to races and I'm sure that some will give up competing in canoe slalom as a result. However there are a significant number of paddlers, almost entirel...

Re: Canoe England Talent Programme
Some very good points made above and it would be nice to think that the Talent Programme Coaches will take note. There are 99 junior paddlers on the published lists. When you add the TID paddlers at Lee Valley and HPP, and Home Nation (Scotland, Wales, Ireland) juniors that is a considerable number ...

McConkey Slalom - Judging
As gate judging organiser for the McConkey Slalom, I just wish to say a huge thank you to all the gate judges. Going into the race we looked a bit thin but many volunteers came forward. Somewhat fortunate as Richard Lee's option 3 for Tryweryn appeared to be a non-starter at HPP! Post race, I had a ...

Re: 6.9 Paddle Up Token
So, in a double division event, if several paddlers from the lower division achieve a paddle up result do they all get 1000 points? e.g. Div 2/3 Slalom with 10 paddlers in Div 3. The top 3 achieve paddle up result compared to the Div 2's. Normally points would be 1000, 900, 800, 700 etc. for the Div...

Encouraging C1 Women
In the GB Junior European Team post CeeBee asks, "Why are there not more C1 women and what do we need to do across the sport to encourage C1 Women?" A timely question after the experience at the Holme Pierrepont Div 4 slalom on Saturday. The slalom was great with a really good entry. I encouraged 4 ...

Re: Stafford & Stone Mini Slalom Winter Series
What a great day with the record entry at Mini 1 smashed today - 187 entries for a slalom on 2nd February!
Thanks to all paddlers for support today and congratulations to Steve, Pete and John for a good course, great organisation and finishing in daylight!

Re: British Open in November
From the Yearbook "Prem race Saturday. British Open Qualification Saturday, Semis and Finals Sunday. Single Race Entry Fees apply." So price increase is from £18.50 to potentially £45.00. For non-qualifiers that's just two runs down the course. Why isn't the race a double Prem incorporating the Brit...

Re: New Ranking Database
New databases are great and now a club league as well. Noticed that Lizzie Neave, Prem K1W Bib 4, and James Bailey, Prem K1M Bib 4 are missing from the Stafford and Stone list. Cheers
