A load of faff honestly just so a very small number of elite paddlers can save a bit of money on their plane fare. And it's nonsense really - a kilo of lead under the seat will have a minimal impact on the boat's performance.

I've never seen boat weighing below division 1 and I think it should stay that way. It's not a safety issue after all.

I'm OK - my boat weighs well over 9 kg already :)

Ha ha, I decided last night that saying something along those lines wouldn't be a useful contribution to the thread :)

My K1 is already over 10kg with some repairs.
Not sure about my C1 but it must be over 8 because it was weighed when Spitt used it for the Vets champs and he wasn't disqualified. I've got a few more things to attend to now so it will gain a few grams over the winter.

How much weight does the average tail repair add anyway, most boats end up with one of the them :)
