I dont feel that the panels descision to do races 1+2 next weekend is right it will be be only 10 days since some of the participating juniors witnessed the lost of a friend some were involved in the attempted rescue and are deeply distressed and as a result were considering not taking part in the first race at all to do the first 2 next weekend destroys any chances that they may have had surely it would have been better to run junior selection alongside senior selection at the beginning of May this would have allowed some time for those who are so traumatised, not just paddlers but coaches too to have come to terms with their experience.

Kazz,

I think that any decision by the organisers could be seen as wrong - damned if you do, damned if you don't. Some people would rise to the challenge and " get back on the horse straight away" and benefit from that approach, choosing not to dwell on the enormity of what has happened. Others, as you rightly point out, would prefer to reflect upon the situation. For those paddling at that level, and perhaps the parents of those paddlers it is a significant moment. There is no right answer.

With mainly Div 1's and only selection paddlers on the Sunday will mean the percentages for selection could be easier to hit.
