Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season
Individuals, rightly so, will need to make up their own minds on what they are and are not comfortable doing; volunteering/not volunteering, competing/not competing, travelling/not travelling etc. My daughter is back football training with a full squad, i’m back coaching, my 5 a side football resume...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season
Leave age categories as they are, make a u-turn and abandon the season as null & void (but allow promotions to stand so as not to disappoint those paddlers, as they’ve already been informed that’s what’s happening). Draw a line in the sand due to exceptional circumstances and turn all focus to suppo...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season
Dee, your response highlights why a simple approach to the season should be taken. Individuals are trying to interpret the rules for a situation that isn’t covered, COVID-19. My daughters U15 football team were flying high in their league but due to the situation we all find ourselves in, the season...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season
I have to agree with Mark. The sport is over complicating things. When the decision was made to cancel all races the season should have been abandoned as null & void at that point. Whilst a handful of paddlers would have been disappointed it would have given a clean break as other sports have done. ...

Re: HPP - Car Parking
Information received from Holme Pierrepont Country Park: The ANPR system is being run by an outside company, so any issues after the event should be directed to them as detailed within the penalty notices issued (DO NOT CONTACT HPPCC AS WE ARE NOT ABLE TO HELP, SORRY; THIS IS NOT A CHARGE BEING MADE...

Re: Selection Races at Lee Valley
Clarification please Dee (if you know). Entry fee for Selection is £50, according to race info. When I try to enter for the event (K1 Junior Only) it is asking me to register for Sat & Sun & charging £50 for each day!! Total requested £100 plus £2.68 transaction fee. Is the workaround to just regist...

Re: 6.2 Division 1 / 2 Competitions
This shouldn't even be a proposal at the ACM. Events are run by volunteers that, for whatever reason, are wanting to give something back to the sport. At the centre of any event is a club trying to make a profit, however large or small. Any profit made is directed straight back into the club to supp...

Re: 6.1 ACM Voting
The club of 3 or 100 aren't "influencing" anyone, they are merely voting yes or no (or abstaining) on a topic/change. Their vote will fall with the majority or the minority. On the rare occasion that something gets passed by one vote then "c'est la vie", the topic/change was a close call and could h...

Re: 6.1 ACM Voting
Nick, HPPCC are very clear on their proposal & the rules it wishes to change: Proposed and Seconded by Holme Pierrepont Canoe Club This motion affects the Regulations, so requires a 2/3 majority and approval by the BC board Canoe Slalom needs to get away from the prehistoric notion that one clubs po...

Re: 6.15 Div 1 Practice
My view is that all courses should be given a grade. Some courses may need a couple of grades, for example, Tully could be graded on the water level around the bottom rock, pumped courses graded around the number of pumps being used etc. etc. Promotion through the divisions could then be linked to a...

Re: 6.12 Restricting Paddle Up
Entries accepted from paddlers outside of the host division should be at the discretion of the race organisers; not a rule. At the HPPCC race this year we allowed 42 paddle-ups at the Premier Race, utilising our water time to the maximum (why would you turn paddlers away?). I am not going to publish...

Re: British Open Race Progression
Thanks for the response and clarification; great to see that more paddlers will progress through to Sunday. I personally am aware of "ICF" progression etc. but many new paddlers/parents to the sport are not. Championship format/ICF progression/mixture of the two (that some clubs run their races on),...

Re: British Open Race Progression
Confirmation please; at the British Open last year all entrants had runs on both days of the competition. I know several people that have booked accommodation on this basis. Can you please confirm that this is not the case and that unless qualification is achieved on the Saturday there will be no ru...
