Re: Vets' Points

Other option..... Fiddle factor for Div 1 and Prem. My thoughts are multiply div 1 points by 1.7 so 300 points becomes 510. Haven't worked out one for Prem. Leave Div 2 and 3 as earned. This would be easy to do and as the one who would implement this I'd like the least pain possible, thus KISS. Pers...

Re: Div4 promotions

Its the terminology that is confusing and the layout doesn't help. If an Event is not quorate, then athletes are promoted if their score would have gained promotion when compared to another quorate event as follows:- MC1 / KW1: if they would have been promoted in the MK1 event. WC1: if they would ha...

Re: Vets' Points

Here is an idea You are ranked as division 'x'. We can fairly easily work out a starting point for each vet. If you achieve 3 max points in that division you are 'promoted' to the division above (in season). You are only eligible for prizes in your ranked division or above.. So this year I would be ...

Re: Div4 promotions

I'm not worried about when Olivia gets promoted. Jenny is already Div 3 and yes we could have got another paddler to race, others mentioned it but that wasn't our focus. This post is more about the observations as I know there is an on going discussion on how promotion out of Div 4 should work to re...

Div4 promotions

Obviously I've a vested interest in this topic but I won't have by the time any rule changes are made but when you are at the coal face you notice things you might not have before (similarly I've got club rules changed to help others in the future). I know there are discussion being had about div 4 ...

Re: Results required for promotion display

Good idea.

I can make a list available to organisers. The best thing to do will be to download it as near as possible to your event so that all the previous weekends results are loaded.

It will take a bit of work and I won't have time for a couple of weeks but watch this space.

Results required for promotion display

I've added as per suggestion from Catherine Brown an extra line to paddlers records if they are near to Promotion. If promotion is possible in the next 2-3 events you will see something like:

Required: 1 win or 407 points from 1 race

Hope you find it useful. Any issues/bugs let me know.

Re: Year Book Review - Codes

They are useful (see p 137) as not all events include full event info. At least you can find out the basics like toliets/camping/water and food if it is your first time. Perhaps it should say Facilities:XXXXXX so people have some idea what it means. Pictures might be better like camp site guides hav...

Re: Map references

I'd like to see them kept, Howsham doesn't have a postcode and neither will Linton, in Linton's case it is very easy to end up on the wrong side, and then struggle to find it as it is down a long farm track. That said I'm sure we will cope as we publish the nearest post code and have plenty of signa...

Re: Division 2/3 Veterans Trophy

The ranking database can do many things when asked. I'm sure this would not be an issue. I'd be against changing the points system, it allows VETS to easily compare themselves to Masters in the same event. Its also very simpe. I agree there is clearly an issue with the difference between winning a D...

Re: Opens

There probably needs to be a bit of a review however these opens aren't 'open' as they aren't publicised in any way. Our open and others are published on the calendar and we have had inquiries and entries in the past. Currenty there are 3 div 4 opens and 2 div 2 and 2 div 2/3 opens. When an event ha...

Re: Opens

I can't find anything about special opens in the rules, can you point me to them?

Found the form (which is a bit out of date), really this is sort of 'direct entry' rather than an open. A bit of both but certainly interesting.

Re: Opens

I'll have to look at what a special open is.

But thanks for the heads up, I have a feeling this will be news to a lot of organisers.

Simply slalom already copes with opens fine?
We've run opens for years and had no issues.

Re: Opens

Unsure why it would be unpopular. I guess you are saying you'd have no officials.

if your div 2/3 doesn't run full every year worth considering. We only got a couple last year, from memory that is pretty normal. Does however mean anyone who wants to can race.
