Thanks for the concern. I found the medical staFf pretty good and they believed what I told them so no lumber puncture. I was hosipalised for five days with iv drips etc. Not nice but I am fine now and still paddling the trent. I can confirm it was the Trent as the only place I paddled for six week...

I have just had conformation that I picked up leptospirosis from the river Trent. Most likely at HPP on 29th August. Less likely at Stone on 28th August. In my view I think I got it from the get-in area of the Winfield pool at HPP. Rats are known to inhabit the area. I would suggest a simple precau...
