Re: Calendar

Sorry all, a problem with Ben's host changing the rules. If you still have this problem, try opening http://www.canoeslalom.co.uk/calendar/s ... release.js and refreshing that.

Re: Hexham Slalom Location?

There are two sites on the calendar database. One is called Hexham, the other is called Wark. I think what the above means is that the (MARCH) race is at Wark, not Hexham, and I've edited the online calendar accordingly. Better tell me if that's wrong. But if you set up an application for a "Hexham"...

Re: Vets Bibs

I spoke to Mike the other day. He is issuing bibs but quite a few were not returned last year and he's waiting for replacements, so yours might be one of those.

Re: 20 Year Celebration

Have you got any of the original pictures that you would have used back in those early years that could be posted again as a reminder of times gone by? I can do better than that. Visit http://www.canoeslalom.co.uk/SLUK0702/index.html for a glimpse of SlalomUK in the days of dial-up modems and 640 x...

Re: Yearbook rankings

The answer to the original question is me. But the numbering in K1W Div 3 is not an error, it's a late deletion.

Re: 6.7 Organiser Discretion on Accepting Paddle Ups

I can't even begin to imagine why host division paddlers would leave it that late
Some paddlers who work can't know far in advance which weekends they will be free, and risking an entry fee on a race you might not be able to get to is expensive.

Re: 6.5 Junior Equipment

The proposal is that, so that young paddlers can develop their technique in appropriately sized boats, J12s should be allowed to paddle in any sort of boat at any ranking race. There are no J12s in Prem. In Div 1 there are very few - we began this year with just one, and there were only nine, across...

Re: 6.7 Organiser Discretion on Accepting Paddle Ups

The proposal is to allow organisers to specify that they do not want to accept paddle up entries for safety or capacity reasons. Under the priority system introduced this year, paddle-up places go to the best in their division and weaker would-be paddle-ups don't get entries at top events, so the "s...

Re: Promotion and 50's

Please let's keep at least this one thing simple. Promotion from Div 4 to Div 3 to one in five. If you've got into the top 20% with a 50, the other paddlers' results must be awful and it may well be too difficult a course. How can we know? And is it a good idea to deny promotions to paddlers who mig...

Re: Vets - New Points System Please

Under the current rules it's not unusual for more than one Vet to get maximum points at a Div 2 or Div 3 race, and I haven't heard any complaints about that. At Symonds Yat four K1M Vets got maximum points http://www.canoeslalom.co.uk/results/Symonds_Yat_Div_2_3_12_10_2019_Resultsv2.pdf . The view t...

Re: Vets - New Points System Please

I completely agree with Bob that the Vets' points system needs sorting out, but I think his multipliers would have some very extreme consequences. At the recent Llandysul Saturday Div 1, for instance, Craig Brown would have got 1304 (at a Div 1?) but Nigel Evans would still have only 164 points. We ...

Re: Online Entries and the Sponsor Field - opinions please.

I'd have no problem with a free-format field if it had information useful to the race organiser (maybe for Pan Celtic entries, etc) but not if it gets carried through to start lists and results. You could label it "notes" and make it available to the organiser only. Part of the problem, I think, is ...

Re: Vets' Points

At Chapel Falls there was a fair representation of Vets. Here are the points they got (Day 1) and the points they would have got factoring their times by 1.10, 1.15 and 1.20: http://www.canoeslalom.co.uk/info/200619vets_points_projection.gif It's a matter of opinion, but I'd be most comfortable with...
