Re: Lee Valley

Hi, posting this in my capacity as chair of Lee Valley Paddlesports Club: A quick reminder around etiquette on and off the water, to keep relationships happy between us, non-slalom users and LVWWC. If you are coaching, please wear a BA when you step over the rope barrier. When setting gates before a...

European Masters Games 2019

The European Masters Games are taking place in late July 2019. Slalom may be included in the programme in Ivrea, but there seems to be some doubt. It would really help to have a show of support from potential competitors. I've set up a Facebook page for people to show their interest and support for ...

Re: Best kayak?

I returned to slalom a couple of years ago. Currently paddle a TJ Composites revolver, which meets your criteria. Its fast and also turns well on the tail, as well as being pretty stable.

Re: Tully Prem March 17,18 and Pan Celtic

HUGE thank you to gate judges, timing people and everyone who helped run the event in challenging and Arctic conditions. I'm always amazed that so many people are willing to volunteer their time and effort to give me the chance to have fun for a weekend. Never take it for granted, especially in toug...

Re: Championship Format in Prem

First off, a big thank you to all the volunteers. I'm deeply grateful to be able to turn up and race knowing that people are working hard behind the scenes. I think its a good thing to try different 'championship' formats, as we saw at Bala last weekend. Why? Because the divisional system in Britain...

Re: Simplifying Vets

Given all the comments on this post, I'm now a bit unclear about what the proposal is. Talking to other masters paddlers in prem, the current system seems to work well enough. There's a good sense of cameraderie AND competition between us, and not a lot of appeal in changing to vets unless forced to...

Thanks to all the volunteers

Now that another season is over, I wanted to say a big thanks to all the gate judges, timing people, organisers, committee members and helpers who have contributed to the year's events. :D I think it's too easy for paddlers to take for granted the work that it takes to put on a slalom, and forget wh...

Slalom training congestion at Lee Valley

I'm a local paddler at Lee Valley, and although I wasn't paddling there last weekend I understand the public session was pretty crowded with slalom, freestyle and recreational paddlers. Although other venues cater for a mix like this, the limits of a one hour slot and more intense whitewater make fo...

Re: In the Flow - new book on psychology for slalom

If anyone wants to pick up a copy of In the Flow, I'll have some with me this weekend at Lee Valley. Direct price is only £15 (you save about £5 compared to online price). You can also order the paperback or e-book here http://www.performance.sportscene.tv/
