I too was worried about the course for Sunday, but was delighted to see the change made to gate 13 when I arrived on Sunday morning. This did make it possible to float across the looping pool and paddle up the eddy flow thru gate 13 and it was even possible to avoid the stopper altogether with a bi...

We had no objections raised in principal to one on our outdoor pool (read man made pond!) when we raised the matter which is I believe 35mx25m but were asked to set it up and send in a photo of the course so they could get an idea of what it would be like. I'm probably going to send in a scale diag...

Agree it was strange. I thought the top few gates a bit of a waste of time as it was easy to paddle nearly in a straight line and the poles were so high even I could shoulder drop under them. Not sure about not guiding though Nick, it was clear (and perhaps a good learning exercise) to me that you ...

Hmm, gate line moves with the pole not where the bar is.... generally it should be in focus.... but what about when the pole is belted on entry to the gate and swings off, you need to know where it is/has gone, if its not in picture, it proves nothing, thus on 2nd thoughts you really need one on th...

And I'm not saying its impossible, I'm just putting forward all the problems I can forsee and the issues with the various suggestions made, being a techie myself (though not in cameras) I hope I have good insight into what the issues might be, where the idea might fail, the problems you might find ...

There is of course one big issue...... the single (NOT) pole..... one pole in the middle of the river the other 25m away on the bank (as at Tully) So cameras on poles wouldn't work in the this case, nor on the spreader bar and even a couple of cameras on the bank may not work. Fortunately the human...

Trouble is you have poles hanging on wires with water and the rain, you'd probably need them wireless and then what happens when one fails, breaks, runs down or drops off etc. What happens to the competitor who loses cause the pictures aren't available for whatever reason and gets beaten by another...
