:p Sorry to spoil the party but this is a UK board, hence John you are somewhere about the middle and Peterborough is nowhere near the North. For a slalom that is the real Jewel of the North come to Seaton Park, we get the odd eskimo showing up on our beach we're that far North. See you next May wh...

It seems the inspiration was drying up or has CP set too tough a task. I had to have a glass or two (Harp naturally) to get the musical memories jogged. Initial thought was along the "Electra" organ, also thought that with all these musicians we should surely have a "Meister" class. Looking at more...

Some very valid points from our Dutch counterpart, and some considerations from experience at Tully (and albeit some time ago at International events abroad): 1/ The weigh-in has to be set-up prior to competition, if a boat fails then you can fix weight and return. There may be random checks post ra...

Don't see any reason for those with new boats not to know the weight - the manufacturer should advise on the delivery. Those with older boats may not be so sure but surely with a few repairs the boat will make weight anyway. Anyway from Sundays performance at tully, my boat was checked as I came off...

yeah a well done to the organising committee and the judges who dutifully manned the river bank on what was a rather chilly and dreich spring day ! Even made the mainstream National Press as the organsier phoned me early on monday morning with instructions to get the Independent. Can only assume tha...

Don't know if others followed my suggestion but I noted that the BBC site on the right to roam removed the discussion postings and reverted to a presentation of a managed email debate between a landowner rep and someone from the ramblers assoc. I never noted my post publicly but if the system went i...

Biggest problem is I have and use a range of cags subject to weather style and type of paddling. however in keeping with the rest: 1/ Colour - varies have both light and dark - depends on what is available and best offer. Generally prefer darker as it does not mark or discolour with age 2/ Long - wi...

Nah, not enough elevation and you would have to pump the water to get a white water course.

Besides as it is an American Restaurant, $3M is a bit expensive for a burger joint.

Another option let's hijack a BBC debate page on the application of the Countryside and Rights of Way 2000 Act. Pust up the comments, you have limited access to a couple of areas in England. Nothing to support access to water and we have the ridiculous situation with the slalom. At the very least it...

From the Rivers Guidebook discussion : Quote: Today, an enterprising BCU member (not me) emailed senior figures in BCU Access and suggested that a great publicity coup could be achieved by calling up the national media and giving them the current story - we have two slalom medalists but nowhere to h...

:( More devisive debate, after the event and it would seem without the key players. We should really drop the them and us tag we are all paddlers. I empathise with Mrs H as setting up a slalom of this standard is a lot of hard work and for once it was taking paddlers away from the concrete ditches i...

Difficult decision and I only see losers apart from the fishing interests. There seems to have been no progress since February, surely the WCA and local slalom interests should have been raising the profile in the town to get support and bring pressure onto the fishers. I have been surprised at the ...
