One could argue that officals do pay for their entries - it's just that they pay with their time. What happened to volunteering for the good of the sport? Speaking as someone who has had several 'official' roles at slalom events, and yet have never once done a judges run. Yes it is nice to get some...

I accept why entries have to be limited at Tees. But why do officials get two counting runs while paying, ranking C1 & C2 paddlers have to rely on first runs for thier points? Surely when there is an issue that runs may be lost the officials should go last ???

There were a few J14s including me and a lot of J12s when it came to the final run and the positions were posted I realised I was in line for a junior prize. I then went and asked the chair...

Don't want to be a wet blanket on this one, but I think someone may be having a joke at your expense. Your school can agree to you having an odd day/afternoon off, but anything on a regular basis would need to be approved by the LEA. Given the results of the last couple of OFSTED's there would have...

For Information Back in July this year I became aware of funding stream that could bring £50+K of money to groups working with young people and in sports. I contacted the BCU to see if anyone was aware of this, I even offered to help work up an application and seek the matching required. The amount...

Food for thought for those who are knocking the need for sponsorship - where would David Beckham be now if it wasn't for sponsorship? and football attracts a lot more financial support, and coaching than canoeing ever will!! Sorry to point out the obvious, but felt it was time for a reality check. ...

Nowhere in the first post was there a request for opinions!!! You just chose to give yours!!! £10,000 a year for training and entry fees, including travel and accommodation costs is in fact quite conservative. I think it shows great initiative that people are prepared to open up and admit that they...
