Kazz, I think that any decision by the organisers could be seen as wrong - damned if you do, damned if you don't. Some people would rise to the challenge and " get back on the horse straight away" and benefit from that approach, choosing not to dwell on the enormity of what has happened. Others, as...

Peter, Tennis elbow is a symptom of whole limb dysfunction. It is important to realise that the pain is telling you something. As an osteopath, I treat Tennis Elbow (TE)fairly frequently. I can almost guarantee that if you prod your neck on the same side as the TE you will find a bit of discomfort ...

Dave, It seems to me that there is a degree of confusion over the naming use of these techniques. With the availability of t'internet should we not be able to produce a visual library of these techniques, both good and bad, in order that good advice might be passed on to the sport as a whole? Kenda...

I would say the bank based coaches do have to be assessed on technique! If if they are not doing it them selves, they will have to teach it, I would have thought that knowing how to do the techniques you're teaching is nessesary! Bank based coaches are assessed on their ability to coach the correct...

I guess a question to ask would be how do we/ you/the BCU retrain all the coaches, this would have to be mandatory and re enforced for it to be effective. As a member of a profession which has gone through a hugh ammount of navel gazing in order that we can have safe practice, it was gut wrenching ...

Either way . . . the progression needs to be 1. get the correct technique on the flat through training 2. race on the flat 3. transfer the technique onto slightly bigger water in training (i.e. Matlock/Marple/Sowerby . . .) 4. race on the slightly bigger water 5. transfer the technique to bigger wa...

Be interested to hear who does sports or works out and doesn't stretch. Not because I dispute Dave's comment but because I wonder, statiscally, what the ratio would be. Interested too if Kendall has a comment? I'm spending too long on here! On the issue of warm up, the research is pretty clear, and...

For what it's worth I suffered my first dislocation (well actually subluxation) almost exactly a year ago and I'm neither young nor female, being a lighter framed male and having been paddling for 40 years. And I know about technique. I remember feeling tired (latter part of an Upper Dart trip), ne...
