Re: Novice Entry Clerk Requires Expert Advice

Jim you're talking from the point of view of postal entries. Yes I was. I have online entries so I end up with a load of div 3 cards where I have populated the backs and left the fronts blank. For the event I have no need for the front details. I beleive that is the case, others have been extolling...

Re: Novice Entry Clerk Requires Expert Advice

I don't have time to look up but there are rules about correct entries, and we are supposed to reject any that aren't complete, but that would be almost all of them. BCU/SCA/WCA/CANI number is a mandatory requirement - I don't understand it either for competitors with bibs, but it is explicitly ment...

Re: Tryweryn accommodation

Sorted thanks, Tyn Cornel did have space. Makes things nice and simple.

Tryweryn accommodation

I just made it to the top of the waiting list for Chapel falls (hooray!), but it looks like Tyn Cornel is full already (I'll try phoning them in the morning just in case) - Anyone know any other places to stay nearby?

Re: Division 2 and Open Competitors/Event

So organisers of div 2 races should be aware that any non-ranked paddler with appropriate federation (? national association? Is BC now claiming to be a federation after years of denying it?) membership (i.e. full annual, or temporary purchased on the day) is allowed to enter? Assuming of course tha...

Pinkston Div 2/3 - 24/25 June (+ practice)

We are now one month away from our Div 2/3 event at Pinkston and the water is warming up nicely (at least it was before the rain came back). As in previous years div 2 will race with 2 pumps running and div 3 with 1 pump running. Entries are starting to come in, I will publish a list of entries rece...

Division 2 and Open Competitors/Event

I am taking the entries for our div 2 race (2/3) and suddenly remembered reading something about open competitors at div 2 races when I was looking to get direct entry rather than working up from div 4, and realised that I might need to understand it. Some races are listed as Div 2 and Open, some ar...

Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P

Arrowcraft, are you objecting to the entire notion of paddle ups at prems or only if they take places away from prem paddlers? Bearing in mind that PUs are sometimes needed to fill events to make them viable to run would it be more sensible to organise Prem roughly as follows: - Limit total number t...

Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P

I've been paddling WW recreationally and aware of the divisional system in slalom for going on 30 years, I only started slalom 2 years ago. From outside slalom, the divisional system looks good. In fact, from inside the lower divisions, the system still looks pretty good. I can appreciate the argume...

Re: Online Entries - The Future - Have your Say?

I've been producing documents in MS Word & Excel for something like 25 years, and I've still never used 'mail merge' and it is not obvious why it would be the right tool for exporting data to print on cards. It is probably just that it has a misleading name so I have never felt a need to look up wha...

Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P

Newsflash - most racing paddlers either don't read this forum, or read but don't post because they think it is more for officials/committee/parents than for them. There is clearly a need to engage more with racers to find out stuff like: - Are they happy about the PU situation? - Are they happy payi...

Re: Online Entries - The Future - Have your Say?

Pan Celtic is complex and the rules have been revised this year so best to ask one of the team managers to send them to you if they aren't online (Rob Softley, Elaine Forbes,?) One of the complications is that a competitor can be registered as an official or non ranking (i.e. not in division or elig...

Re: Protests - the new way to good results?

There is more to it than that. I have seen competitors and parents/coaches absolutely certain that the passage was correct and clear whilst observers from different positions felt there was a touch, or missed gate, they protest because they are absolutely sure they are right despite suggestions from...

Re: Time to limit or split Premier Division ?

Having read through a couple of times before pressing submit, I should warn that this message contains various thoughts which may not all be entirely compatible! There is another basic issue to deal with, which reminds me of Spinal Tap's amps which go up to 11. We already have 2 first divisions, and...
