Re: 6.2 Veterans Points (75/25)

I think the difficulty factor is about the difficulty of beating the host division paddlers, not the difficulty of the course, which is the same at a Div 2/3. If the system is pyramidal and working properly, the range of paddler ability per division contracts as you move up the divisions and the ran...

Re: 6.6 Carry Points Forward for 2022

Vets - currently thinking only myself and those ranked below me will retain their points But old points or new points - by some fluke I have one result which by new points will exceed more than my expected best 5 total next year if the points motion goes ahead... I've often mused all races should b...

Re: Prem Rankings

Thanks Dee, so it was just made up then & no consultation. about right At 2020 ACM the committee were essentially given 'emergency powers' to deal with these kind of unusual decisions arising from Covid-19 effects. Both motions are of relevance, although ranking points calculation was not discussed...

Can we introduce demotion certificates next year? The way things are going I might be eligible for one at the end of next season. :D

Re: Veterans - Alternate points

What is the alternative points system that has been evaluated? I cannot find any documentation for what is actually being calculated (on chatter, or in ACM minutes, or in the rules) and I can't work it out from my own sporadic results.

She take take it out on me directly at the Tees event this coming weekend if you are planning to be there.

Steve
That is one of the events listed for George to hand the trophy back? :D
(I assume it is him, past officials results don't seem to be available, but he does always seem to win it)

Re: Can we find 500 new paddlers for 2022?

So far the discussion seems to have been how existing slalom clubs can increase their number of participants, or how to keep paddlers who have been in the squads. My problem is how to start from scratch in a club where there have been no slalom paddlers for 20 years and where only two members have ...

Re: Can we find 500 new paddlers for 2022?

I don't know all the details of how it works, but Pinkston Panthers always try to run some summer sessions during the daytime in the school holidays to attract some new paddlers. I think we employ a coach for the sessions, who then encourages them to go along to club night if they have enjoyed their...

Re: Veterans - Alternate points

A) Is it working? The alternative points listed on results sheets don't match what are listed on that page for me, and clicking on my own name takes me to the proper ranking points. B) Is it worth having? I can't even remember what problem the alternative points were supposed to solve, does anyone f...

Re: What is the Spectators Race in Online Entries and What do I do?

Some parents and siblings just register in the spectator list as the paddler they are supporting rather than create a new non-ranking persona.

Thanks to volunteers

Thanks to all the volunteers who have helped in any way at the Grandtully races over the last 3 weekends. In particular the group of mostly Wyedean parents who helped us erect the courses, I think 1hr 10 minutes to build the div 1 course on Friday must be some kind of a record? I think we caught the...

Re: BC Membership For Div 4 Races

Great questions. I can't answer them, but can confirm that SCA use different insurance so this almost certainly will not apply to SCA competitors at events organised in England or Wales, nor to BC or CW competitors at events in Scotland. It is pretty rare that div 4's travel more than locally, excep...

Re: GRANDTULLY DIV 1 28/29 AUGUST 2021

Following discussions within the club, and with other clubs, Pinkston Panthers are applying to take this race on. Watch the usual places for information going up, my understanding is that it will be notified above the calendar for 2 weeks to allow any objections from clashing events to be received, ...

Re: GRANDTULLY DIV 1 28/29 AUGUST 2021

Just announced on SCA FB 20 minutes ago, Grandtully campsite will be accepting tents again from tomorrow (28 May), albeit designated pitches and greatly reduced capacity compared to the usual slalom approach of squeezaing into any gap you can find. Thinking about the offers to run an event, is anyon...
