Katonas, In theory I wouldn't object as long as the year of birth was on the cards (not just J16 etc, because paddlers get this wrong). However, this does presuppose that the ranking compilers have the information - running an event so early in the season means that there are always a number who ha...

Katonas, The rules do require entry cards to be completed and address is on the card so I think it's unreasonable to say that Organisers that insist on an address are forcing their opinions on those who might have concerns . They are acting within the rules. I also don't think it is true that it se...

FYI SS paddlers have protection from demotion, hence a paddler further up the end of season ranking can find themselves demoted whilst SS paddlers remain in place. PSC paddlers are protected from demotion with agreement of the slalom committee - usually due to an injury preventing paddler from comp...

Do you ensure no one could walk away with the cards or see the addresses at an event ? Katonas. As a general rule only those involved in organisation or helping in control would have easy access to the cards, but if someone was fairly determined then they could walk off with one. On the other hand ...

As an organiser of an early season event (usually first div1/2 of the season): - there are always some juniors who get their age groups wrong - so I at least need year of birth, - there are also always some competitors who haven't applied for/received their bibs, so I can't get up to date informati...

Peter, Three things DPA: There aren't many DVs in prem, but I am uncomfortable with handing over dobs without a change to the rule book or explicit permission from paddlers (as opposed to an opt out, especially when the bib form doesn't have an opt out). Could we see if the bib application form cou...

Spiderman - please don't slag off the committee. I suspect you didn't mean it to sound quite as bad as it did. But the committee are volunteers who do their best for the sport and like all of us will have conflicting demands on their time. They may not be perfect, but who is? Also I do agree with N...

John, like the idea, but I don't think it's problem free, eg: - Every paddler would have to be ranked separately in every division they raced in so more administration. - At multi-division events would paddlers elect for one of the divisions or ask for runs to be double counted - Depending on how m...

With regard to the age grouping - I personally think this is OTT and fraught with administration issues, some paddlers won't want to disclose their age and organisers will inevitably make mistakes causing more unrest and complaints. It is bad enough with Juniors! An earlier post said 28% of mainstr...

The points calc could help comparision of Vet to Vet, but however you calculate it, I'm not sure that it will be possible to compare points between DVs and Vets whilst Vets can paddle in more than one division. At the end of the day, surely we just have to recognise that Vets and DVs are in differe...

I can see there are issues about the way the system works, but all this fuss about prizes baffles me. At slaloms I've run and attended most of the DV/Vs that are handed a prize give them back (assuming they've waited for prize giving)! The same even applies to some (older) juniors. Also any rules r...
