For financial reasons, I much prefer double events, but I do appreciate that for many reasons this is not always possible. However, would it be possible to have a non-ranking Div 1 practise event on the Saturday followed by a Div 1 ranking event on the Sunday? I'd see the clubs keeping the majority...

Isn't a review of all slalom sites occuring for appropiateness and ranking level? Isn't CP heading it up? Could this not be part of that review and this is just part of a wider consultation? Personally, I'd wait for a proper report before reaching a conclusion and mobilising the troops. The wave at...

Not really a southern slalom, but I remember there was once a slalom on the weir in the centre of Newark. The mill there has since been demolished but you could easily hold a div 3/4 there. Newark CC still exists but now meets on a lake and all the slalom paddlers go to HPP.

I remember doing Sharnbrook one year. I decided to take my new girlfriend and this proved an excellent decision when I got the car stuck in some mud on the field that was the campsite. I asked her to push the car a little (a lime green Talbot Horizon!) whilst I gunned it. Next thing I see is someth...

Mike, I wanted to paddle whilst in Southern Germany and found an English paddle group in Munich via their chat page. They arranged to take me on many trips, including the Eiskanal at Augsburg and some Alpine Rivers. Unfortunately, as I was in the RAF at the time, I had to cancel at the last minute ...

Poultney Weir!! I now remember doing that slalom in the early 80's - I recall it was right in the centre of Bath. There was a reverse gate immediately above the weir and one immediately below. We had loads of problems in the C2 until we just did both backwards including the drop. Great fun!

Wasn't there a low division slalom on Marlow weir once? I remember doing a slalom at Hambledon in the early 80s. I think we won or came second in the Saturday team event with Bill Horsman and Andy Rance. I don't think Hambledon is paddled much now, everyone goes to Hurley.

I guess the challenges are two-fold. Firstly, there isn't much daylight, so getting practise and all the classes through is problematical - especially as most events need to be be multi-divisional to be worthwhile. Secondly, do people really want to travel, camp, and paddle in a harsh, cold, windy,...

Hi Colin,

Joe and I will be there on the Saturday for judging. I also hear rumours that Joe and Jonathan will be celebrating their new shiny K1 Div 2 status with a C2 vignette to amaze and awe us!!

Cheers,

Paul

I think Dave Swift from Proteus may have it as he thought we had left it and took it back with him!! What's your next couple of slaloms to get it returned? Will you be at Orton Mere?

Cheers,

Galasport K1 Pilot 3.5m slalom boat for Sale. Bought new in Oct 07 and used on the Div 4/3 circuit. Rare boat as cut for 35Kg so ideal for a child. 'Mixt' construction and very strong. No repairs, but as you'd expect for a boat that does div 3s, the bottom is scratched, though nothing serious. Boat...

I've still got my Pyrannah Prem 2 that I paddled nearly 30 years ago. Ian Freestone sold it to me. I replaced it with a Nomad Extra and that's now out the front of our house as a planter and is full of winter pansies!! (Don't ask!). My first boat was a Ferarra and I used to train with Bill Horsman ...
