Ah - it looks like this is indeed just badly written - in the explanation before it says "End of season promotion (with the exceptionof 5 wins) will promote competition for top ranking position in the Division before moving up to the Premier Division. " However I am not aware of any rule allowing t...

Actually this may well reduce competition. As it stands, end of season, with say 5 or 6 races to go, lots of top paddlers will still race as they might just get that one win that completes their total and get up (as they did this year - it was very close and very competitive). Under the new proposa...

The best way to slow down promotions is to get more paddlers into the sport, thus more competition, harder to get promoted. As Munchkin says its up to each individual (or their coach/parents) to make sure they get the experience under their belt. Part of the blame must lie with paddlers (male & fem...

Can't help but feel that this is more about demotions than promotions. Having just looked at people in prem I know those that have just completed a full season are doing well (mid table) and those that have been promoted late on this season have certainly not come last in the races they have done. ...

I really hope I am reading this rule change wrong - please correct me if I am. "In 2007 8 K1 Men, 5 K1 Women and 5 C1’s were promoted. In 2008 14 K1 Men 6 K1Women and 4 C1’s were promoted quite a disparity from one year to the next" The only disparity seems to be on K1 Men and there could be a numb...

"Veterans will be separately ranked based on the points gained for each division for which they enter and the number of events to countfor the ranking position will be the same as for that division. Veterans may compete in any division up to that in which they were previously ranked and may be rank...

Guess I've said it before but surely the Vets class could be replaced by open, allowing anyone (of any age) to race who wants too but in a non divisional setting. If you want rankings, prizes, end of year trophies etc then be a DV otherwise you can enter an open class. I agree with Dave Brad here -...

Do we really need trophies and paper certificates at our age? Personally I think its a waste of money and time that can be better spent elsewhere by the clubs running the events especially if you expect one for each band. It will just drive up the cost of entering in the end. Personally a bit of pa...

Hi, Anne has requested to borrow the PA system that Greenstar hold for the 2 Llangollen weekends if possible. Looking for a volunteer(s) to transport it to the 1st event and back from the 2nd. The PA is currently in Hull although I would be prepared to meet someone within a reasonable distance (30 ...

Its well known Tees is limited. Last year I missed out as I didn't get my entry in in time, my fault, lesson learned, this year I made sure I got my entry in nice and early. Hopefully it won't be so much of an issue when the pumps are fitted. I actually dislike late entries, particularly ones accep...

Just a quick note to thank everyone involved for a great event. Ran like clock work, good course (both days), great weather Sat, not so bad Sunday. To my surprise didn't find the short interval between runs a problem. Looking forward to next year.

Thats a very unusual running order and not typical of any other event I have been to. Is it correct? Most events run 1st runs (men then women), then lunch, then 2nd runs (men then women). In this particular case it appears its Men in the morning, and women in the afternoon. Not seen that before (ex...

its certainly all food for thought!

(but doesn't ski slalom have two sets of poles just like canoe slalom per 'gate' ..... as water ski slalom has two floats ... they are a mare when you get them tangled in your rudder!)

I've not been involved long enough to be afraid of change either but probably long enough to start appreciating the sport I have joined. I'd be dead against single pole courses and that will probably surprise a few people. Take Washburn this weekend as an example. Quite a few top end paddlers messe...
