Re: Annual Consultative Meeting and back to racing discussion

I woz there, and as far as I recall: Only 2 organisers have withdrawn races, and one of those was due to lack of organisers at the moment. There were a few more that hadn't got RAs in on time and were being given an extra week to do that, I'm pretty sure they will have now. The 'when' is impossible ...

Re: CanoeSlalomEntries Support for Covid Slaloms

.. For div 2 and below we are still scoring on cards ... Not something online entry is going to be able to help with, but ... Of course, but every discussion has related elements, we have a complex web of requirements! I was expecting others more able to help on those specifics would also be readin...

Re: CanoeSlalomEntries Support for Covid Slaloms

Your implementation of canoeslalomentries has basically allowed organising clubs to sidestep GDPR issues For clarity, canoeslalomentries does not exempt organising clubs from their own GDPR responsibilities, but it should help them to restrict access to data that is not on the startlist, such as em...

Re: CanoeSlalomEntries Support for Covid Slaloms

Hi Dee, This is one of the issues that has been vexing me slightly, Your implementation of canoeslalomentries has basically allowed organising clubs to sidestep GDPR issues themselves by deferring them to your system. I really have not managed to get to the bottom of whether the now legal requiremen...

Re: Annual Consultative Meeting and back to racing discussion

Back to racing and the impact of not being able to change rules before the end of the 2020/21 season How many organisers have started looking seriously at including Covid-19 in their risk assessments for next year, and what kind of mitigations have you all been considering? The Scottish Champs that...

Re: Back to Slaloms

In Scotland we had planned on groups of 8 but has been reduced to 6 and only 2 households so much more difficult... I thought that if all the extra conditions can be met the 6 & 2 can still be relaxed here? - admittedly I am looking at info last updated on the 14th, a lot can happen in 5 days with ...

Re: Back to Slaloms

Come on guys, PARK RUN is starting October ...... slalom is easier to pull together safely than Park Run! The big difference between park run and slalom is that park run are organising to minimise the amount of time people spend hanging around before and after the event, on the basis that during th...

Re: Back to Slaloms

Also a thought regarding live results - the issue here is to stop people crowding around a few screens, but the results system is basically a local web server and several of us have worked out how to make a local wifi network (with guidance from Dave Spencer and Duncan Berriman) so that paddlers can...

Re: Back to Slaloms

Several clubs did ask the committee to review the position regarding div 4 a few months ago, but as Dee mentions although not actually ranking, they do have promotion, and at the moment it is not clear what we would be promoting paddlers for since the rankng system is currently on hold. I think it w...

Scottish paddlers are not allowed to travel to different venues to race,
I missed Friday's update, we are now allowed to have competitions for up to 30 people in Scotland. Detail is sparse but I assume that includes organisers/timekeepers/judges.

Re: British Open/ HPPCC/SS open

Only question - Must BC support be given for this event to happen? Good question, the British Open is the only race normally run by BC slalom committee instead of by a club. I don't know if that is set in stone. At present it can't be a full British event, Scottish paddlers are not allowed to trave...

Re: British Open/ HPPCC/SS open

I don't know if different disciplines got different advice from BC, but what I saw through WWR was that all GB teams with possible exception of WWR J/U23 (the event is so late in the year that no team has been selected, and it looks like it will now be impossible to select a team due to home nation ...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season

However, if there is no support for events from the timing team, section judges, jury members, committee members etc. then publish that information and give a timescale for when these key people are prepared to consider helping again. Potential organisers of events (HPP & S&S have already suggested...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season

We may yet be lucky enough to be able to hold a junior champs as a non ranking competition, if it were to be possible, would that put this debate to bed?

Re: OHM Training Device?

Same idea as using a bungee or a rope around the boat to increase resistance when training, but it has some much bigger blocks to add even more resistance. Should probably work up from a bungee to thick rope and then OHM device rather than jumping right in - I find the effect of a bungee on my WWR ...
