6.2 Geographic Balance for Division 1

Post by Canadian Paddler » Fri Nov 08, 2013 10:27 am

Proposed and Seconded by Shepperton Slalom Canoe Club
In order to create a more geographically balanced calendar, we believe that there should be more than one Division 1 race in Southern England. In order to achieve this, we propose that the Shepperton race be a double event for both Division 1 and Division 2.
All spelling errors are intentional and are there to show new and improved ways of spelling old words. Grammatical errors are due to too many English classes/teachers.

Have to say I have attended Shepperton for the last few years and feel that it should be a double div 1 - and I know the arguements about water - but given that there is a biase of more paddlers 'north of Watford' than south, then we are more likely to travel for a double event than a single. Suppose the main saving is to the BCU / Timing as there is only the need for timing / section judges on the one day.

Know where my vote goes

cheers

FYI No difference in cost to BCU slalom committee

Not expressing my views, just keeping record straight :|

For those not in the know, Shepperton did apply for a double div 1/2 (on time) but has only been allocated a single div 1.

changed to:
In order to create a more geographically balanced calendar, we believe that there should be more than one Division 1 race in Southern England. In order to achieve this, we propose that for 2013the Shepperton race be a double event for both Division 1 and Division 2.
(This allows agreement to geographic balance without enshrining a double at Shepperton for ever. e.g. if we had div 1s at Lee Valley, Hambledon and Shepperton, the Sheppy event would not have to be a double )

PASSED
