Slalom training congestion at Lee Valley

Post by mally » Wed Feb 04, 2015 7:49 pm

I'm a local paddler at Lee Valley, and although I wasn't paddling there last weekend I understand the public session was pretty crowded with slalom, freestyle and recreational paddlers. Although other venues cater for a mix like this, the limits of a one hour slot and more intense whitewater make for more problems than usual at Lee Valley. Prompted by a similar issue last year, I wrote a commentary on my blog with suggestions for how plastic and slalom can get along. I'm sure there are other factors that could help, like the scheduling of training slots, maximum numbers of boats and so on, but at least this describes what we as paddlers can do.

I'm going to post this again widely, including on UKRGB. I hope it helps us all enjoy whitewater in some sort of harmony!
