Last weekend all of the home nations had groups of juniors training on the ski slope/international site. I witnessed a situation where a boat had capsized and there was a swimmer in the water, not only did an older junior from a different home nation paddle past making no attempt to provide assisstance but the coach who was with him shouted abusively at the other juniors who were attempting to rescue their fellow paddler/boat to clear the gates for his paddlers. Surely the safety of a paddler is of utmost importance, you never know when you may need assisstance. Following selection events it is not outside the realms of possibilty that the junior GB team may consist of paddlers from all of the home nations, the behaviour witnessed by both paddler and coach alike does not bode well for good team spirit.
