On the river tees near barnard castle.

The section is just by egglestone abbey.

There'll be a course guide etc in due course...

Not sure if Abbey Rapids is the right venue for div 3/4s if what I remember is right. The drop depending on water levels could be huge (its a bit like Bala Mill Falls) and the narrow section below did not lend itself well for rescues.
Saying that it is a great venue and it would be good to see higher division events held there. Well done Nicky for resurrecting one of the old sites :;):
ps is there water/toilets/etc there now?

there is no intention of racing over the falls, that's very much a prem/div 1 bit of water.

The bit upstream is ideal for a 2/3 and i don't think that div 4 paddlers will struggle too much. The div 4 could be a short course, but we'll see.

No toilets etc, but there's nothing wrong with porta loos and a large field!

(Fison, no doubt I'll see you before next July!!!)

now then!

We had a bit of a practice race at abbey this sunday and the event worked well, there were a few little glitches that will be ironed out before next time, but all in all it was a very successful day!

There were paddlers or all divisions represented and we were able to set a course suitable for all, so looking good for July.

Hope everyone that attended had a good day and look forward to seeing you in the summer!

There should be a bit of a report and some pictures appearing soon (hopefully tonight!) on www.teestigers.com if you fancy a bit of a look.

I agree Nicky, I think a good day was had by all (with the posible exception of one cold swimmer!)

Its a good site for any standard.
