Howsham Div 2-3-4sc & open, Please read

Post by Happychappy » Thu Jul 03, 2014 11:05 am

Well its that time of year again when we invite you to the Howsham Water Mill weekender. Work has already started preparing this historic site for you to enjoy with bridge building, crop cutting, grass strimming etc. The site is looking fantastic at this time of year with lots to do and explore.

Site staff will be building the course and preparing the event from Wednesday evening onward's. There will be some of us camping over from Thursday morning so your welcome to come help out if you fancy a rewarding challenge.

The site will be open for camping from Friday lunchtime and we hope to let you have free practice from 5.00pm onwards. As usual you will receive a friendly warm welcome on arrival at the gate, proper Yorkshire hospitality.

The "Fill your tum" food tent will be serving hot and cold food and drinks all weekend. A great selection to choose from will include: beef curry wraps, cold pasta salad, Hawaiian burgers & hotdogs. Ice cold drinks will also be served fresh from the chiller. Tea, coffee and mouth watering "devils hot chocolate" with marshmallows also available.

This unique race weekend works well, the waters at a great level for all divisions. Saturday evening entertainment will kick off around 7.30pm with the "Yorkshire Olympics". Fantastic fun for everyone. Trophies for some of the events so start thinking about your team name for the "4 in a sack" race. Favorites including "Wench Wanging" and Wellie Carrying" (or the other way round, you decide) Last year 140+ people joined in the evening fun, guaranteed to get your belly laughing.

We have booked extra toilets this year and with the inclusion of the sites 3 "thunder boxes" (a must try) will have plenty to keep the site running fine.

There is limited running water onsite so please remember to bring your own drinking water. If you do run out just come and find one of us and we will try and help.

Any questions you may have simply email, we will try and get them answered as quickly as possible, or give me a call on 07932 314822 (Rob)

There is a video of last years event here http://youtu.be/BUIUckETgqk so its a must watch to see why Howsham is a must for all the family.

So remember this is a popular event 200+ paddlers last year so get those final cards off to us before the weekend please. We hope to publish a start list by Wednesday next week.

Looking forward to welcoming you all to Howsham Water Mill next weekend (12th & 13th July 2014)

Regards

Provisional start list is available on KKC web site - http://www.kkc.org.uk/

This is very likely to change as we are expecting late entries.

Hi Duncan,

I'm struggling to find the provisional start list on the KKC web site - can you point me in the right direction?

Cheers,
James

Well that's 3 of the freshly prepared, locally sourced, menus options done. Just another 3 to go....

Just to let you know that if you are are arriving on Friday evening, we are putting on a short menu for you.
Home made, authentic, chilli and rice with garlic bread. Put up your tent, pour a beer or wine and come get your scrumdiddlyuptious chilli....

Can be ordered "relaxing" or "bum numbing" it's up to you.

Howsham slalom, brought to you by Lower Wharfe Slalom Squad and Kingstone Kayak Club
